To set preferences for the Spoken Quotes widget, right click on the widget to display a context menu and then choose "Widget Preferences...". You will be presented with the "General" tab of the widget preferences. On this tab you may set quote and news update intervals, as well as change the location to your saved portfolio file. It is not suggested you change the portfolio path unless you understand how the widget engine works.

The next tab is the "Speech Settings" tab. Here you may toggle speech for the entire widget on or off as well as modify speech specific configuration. If you wish to use an external Text-to-speech executable you may enter the path to it on this tab. Note that the executable must accept a single argument on the command line, such as speek.exe 'This is text to speak'. Using an external speech command can sometimes improve performance of the widget when text is being spoken. The next settings on this tab are checkboxes to set what gets spoken and when for new quotes. This allows you to set what you want to hear as well as how often.

The last widget preferences tab is the "Source Settings" tab. Here you may choose what sources to use for quotes, news, and charts. The default source is Yahoo Finance. Note that if you have a subscription to Yahoo Finance your quotes will be real-time if you login to the widget engine.
